Privacy Policy

Privacy should feel obvious, not optional.

friendAI is built around a simple promise: the app is designed to keep the core experience on your device, without requiring an account for core use and without sending your conversation content to our servers for chat generation.

Effective April 5, 2026

01

Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the friendAI app.

It explains what information the app stores on your device, what limited data may be shared with third parties when certain features are used, and how deletion and support-related information are handled.

02

What stays on your device

friendAI is designed to be on-device first. We do not require an account for the core app experience, and we do not upload your chats to friendAI servers to generate replies.

Profile information, companion profiles, chat threads, messages, memory notes, generated images, avatars, and app preferences are intended to stay in your device storage and app sandbox.

  • Memory Vault entries are stored locally and may be used as context for on-device model responses.
  • App preferences such as model settings or local security settings may be stored in iOS system storage such as UserDefaults.
  • If copies of your content are created through device backups, screenshots, system sharing, or other tools outside the app, those copies are controlled by the tools and services you choose rather than by friendAI.

03

On-device AI processing

Core chat, memory planning, and reply generation are designed to run locally on your device using on-device models.

As implemented, your message content is not sent to friendAI servers for inference. If a future version adds an online feature that changes that behavior, we will describe it in-app and update this policy.

04

What may leave your device

Some limited network activity may still occur even though the core product is local-first. For example, if the app downloads a model, that request may be made to a third-party model host such as Hugging Face or its delivery providers.

Those services may receive standard connection metadata such as your IP address, request headers, and download timestamps when serving model files.

  • If you use Apple-provided features such as Image Playground, related prompts or reference images may be processed under Apple's terms rather than by friendAI servers.
  • If copies of your content are created through iOS backups, screenshots, or system sharing outside the app, those copies are governed by the apps, storage providers, or services you choose to use.

05

Permissions and iOS access

Depending on the build you install and the features you choose to use, friendAI may request iOS permissions for features such as Photos, Camera, or Microphone so you can attach, capture, or provide media in the app.

If a shipped build requests access to Calendar or Reminders, that access is intended only for the related feature exposed by that build. You can deny or revoke permissions at any time in iOS Settings.

06

Face ID, notifications, and device features

If you enable app lock, iOS handles the Face ID or device-authentication check. friendAI does not receive or store your biometric template.

The app may use local notifications for device-side events such as a completed model download.

The current app does not use remote push notifications for chat or sync. If we add them in a future version, we will update this policy.

07

No ads, no analytics SDKs, and no sale of personal information

Based on the current app implementation, friendAI does not use advertising SDKs or analytics SDKs to track your chats or behavior inside the app.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

08

Developer identity, support, and privacy rights

friendAI is provided by the developer identified on the app's store listing. If you contact the friendAI team for support, we may keep your email address and the contents of your message for as long as needed to respond, provide support, or keep a record of the request.

Depending on where you live and subject to applicable law, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of personal information we hold about you, or to object to or restrict certain processing.

California residents may have rights under California privacy law, and users in the EEA or UK may have rights under applicable data protection law, including the right to contact their local supervisory authority. To exercise applicable rights, use the support email, support URL, or other contact method listed on the app's store page.

09

Retention and deletion

For app data that is stored only on your device, you can usually delete it directly in the app, by removing local files, or by uninstalling the app, subject to any device backups you created.

For information you send to us directly, we keep it only as long as reasonably necessary for support, recordkeeping, security, or legal compliance.

10

Children's privacy

friendAI is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app or through direct support channels.

11

Changes to this policy

If we update this Privacy Policy, we will post the revised version on this page and change the effective date above.

12

Questions

If you have privacy questions, use the support email, support URL, or other contact method listed on the app's store page.
