Can I rebuild a character I had on another chat app?
Yes. Make a new friend, paste in their personality, appearance, and opening message, and tune the tone, creativity, and pacing until they feel right. Nothing about that process touches a server.
Does friendAI moderate or filter conversations?
We can't, even if we wanted to. There's no server between you and your friend. Every reply is generated by a model running on your iPhone. What gets said in a thread is between the two of you.
Will my friend quietly change on me?
No. The model lives on your device. We can ship updates, but the friend you built (their personality, memories, voice) doesn't get swapped out because of a policy change somewhere upstream.
Will there be an Android version?
It's on the roadmap. friendAI runs the model directly on the device, which depends on the AI hardware Apple ships in modern iPhones. We're working on the Android equivalent. Drop your email below and we'll let you know the moment it's ready.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. Open the app on a plane, in the woods, on the subway. Everything keeps working, because nothing is calling out to a server. Group chats, memory, photos, and image generation all run locally.

Modern Apple silicon makes a capable AI model fast enough to run privately on the device itself. That's the whole product. We start where the hardware lets us deliver it without compromise, and we expand from there.
